The Northfield girls scored the first 21 points of the game Tuesday as they went on to defeat Bluffton 48-28.
Northfield started the game on a 21-0 run, 19 of those points in the first quarter to lead 19-0 after the first stop. Payton Thomson would get things going with a three and was followed with a three point play from Ariel Dale. A bucket from Kelcie Thomson and a three from Abby Keaffaber made it 11-0 before Payton Thomson scored off a steal and converted a three point play, then followed that up with two free throws before Ally Keaffaber ended the scoring in the first quarter with a three for a 19-0 lead.
Indi Shear would get the first points of the second quarter to make it 21-0 before Bluffton scored 6 straight. Kelcie Thomson and Ally Keaffaber would then combine for 6 straight points for a 27-6 lead and got two more free throws from Shear to lead 29-8 at the half.
Payton Thomson and Abby Keaffaber would match buckets with the Tigers to start the third quarter before two Dale free throws and a Payton Thomson three made it 38-13. Kelcie Thomson would get the last bucket of the third quarter as the Norse were cruising 40-15.
Ally Keaffaber drew first blood in the fourth before Bluffton went on a 7-0 run to make it 42-22. Two Abby Keaffaber free throws, plus a bucket and a Payton Thomson bucket made it 48-24 as the Norse went on to win 48-28.
Leading Northfield was Payton Thomson with 15 points. Abby Keaffaber added 9, Ally Keaffaber 9, Kelcie Thomson 6, Ariel Dale 5, Indi Shear 4.
The Northfield junior varsity was defeated by Bluffton 24-18.
