One night after the Southwood and Wabash boys played it was the girls turn to take the court with Wabash paying a visit to Southwood. The Lady Apaches got off to a good start and never gave up their lead in a 51-29 win over the Knights.
Sydni Mullet got the first bucket of the game, followed by a three from Bailey Youkum for a 5-0 lead before Brooke Elliott hit a three. Youkum would score again followed by Jaycee Parrett draining a three as the Apache lead grew to 10-3. Taylor Heath would hit a three to end the quarter as Wabash led 10-6 after one.
Elliott made it 10-7 to start the second quarter when the Lady Apaches went on a 7-0 run. Madison Barden got the run going with a bucket, followed by three Youkum free throws and two from Katie McCauley. Taylor Heath would stop the run with two free throws before the Apaches took off again. Jaycee Parrett would start a 12-0 run with a bucket that ended with a bucket from Mullett as the Wabash lead grew to 29-9. Heath and Josie Brubaker would each hit free throws to make it 29-13 before Sabrina Wagner made it 32-13 at the half with a three.
The pace slowed a little in the third with the Knights out scoring the Apaches 8-6. Ashley Parson and Elliott started the quarter with buckets before Youkum hit twice. At 36-21 Madison Barden hit at the buzzer to give the Apaches a 38-21 lead with a quarter to go.
Barden and Parrett free throws to start the quarter made it 42-21 before a Heath bucket. Still converting from the line, Kristin Cromer would hit three straight followed by a Parrett bucket to make it 47-23 as Wabash went on to the 51-29 win.
Leading Wabash was Bailey Youkum with 15 points. Jaycee Parrett added 11, Madison Barden 6, Katie McCauley 6, Sydni Mullett 4, Sabrina Wagner 3, Kristin Cromer 3, Kaitlyn Dowdal 2, Abby Vinopal 1.
Leading Southwood was Brooke Elliott with 10 points. Taylor Heath added 9, Ashley Parson 4, Josie Brubaker 2, Kassidy Atwood 2, Morgan Farr 2.
Wabash won the junior varsity contest 38-20.
