Free Throw Shooting Lifts Lady Knights Past Eastern

The Southwood girls basketball team overcame a frigid shooting night from the field to defeat Eastern 39-33 on Thursday night.

Southwood was 10-48 from the field (20.8%) which included 2-15 (13.3%) from beyond the three point line. However, the Lady Knights shot 77.3% from the free throw line (17-22) to secure the victory.

Brooke Elliott scored 13 points to lead the team in scoring which included 8-12 from the free throw line while Taylor Heath added 9-10 from the free throw line. Kassidy Atwood chipped in with 6 points and Ashley Parson added 5 points. Morgan Farr, Makenna Dawes and Ellie White all scored 2 points. Elliott grabbed 12 rebounds while Atwood and Dawes both added 8 rebounds. Heath and Elliott both dished out 3 assists while Dawes led the team with 3 steals.
