Manchester traveled to Wabash Friday to meet the Apaches for a second time, this time in a TRC battle. On the back of a 25 point performance from Chase Fierstos the Squires defeated the Apaches 57-39.
The Apaches came out inspired to start the game, getting a free throw from Marcus Jones and a bucket from Luke Mattern to lead 3-2. With the score tied at 5 after a Kaleb Kelsheimer bucket Manchester’s Chase Fierstos would take over connecting three times, one from three point land for his own 7-0 run to give the Squires a 12-5 lead after one.
Fierstos would continue his run to start the second quarter with two free throws before Eryk Weber hit. Koehl Fluke would then drain a three, followed by a three point play from Kelsheimer to make it 17-10 when Fierstos drained a three that started a 9-0 run for the Squires to end the quarter. Getting in on the action during the run was Braydon Sewell, Keelan Norwood and Mason Hamby. Manchester led 26-10 at the half.
Kelsheimer and Fierstos would trade buckets to start the third quarter before Mattern hit two free throws, followed by a Kelsheimer free throw to make it 28-15. Keelan Norwood and David McAtee would then hit back to back to increase the lead to 31-15 when Owen Yeadon hit. Fierstos would then answer Yeadon with a three as the Squires stretched the lead to 37-20 after a Kelsheimer bucket. Leading 37-20 Fierstos would drain his fourth bomb of the night, followed by a Hamby bucket to make it 42-20 when a Mattern bucket and a Treavor Floor free throw made it 42-23. The quarter ended with a Hamby bucket to give the Squires a 44-23 lead with a quarter to go.
Fierstos and Hamby would stretch the lead to 49-23 to start the fourth before two Yeadon free throws and a bucket from Kelsheimer. Koehl Fluke would then connect on his third three that was answered by a Wabash 8-0 run. During the run Mattern hit four free throws with Cal Stone and Blake Gribben hitting buckets. The game ended with buckets from Zach Hill and Austin Hostetler for the 57-39 final.
Leading Manchester was Chase Fierstos with 25 points. Mason Hamby added 9, Koehl Fluke 9, Zach Hill 5, Braydon Sewell 4, Keelan Norwood 3, David McAtee 2.
Leading Wabash was Kaleb Kelsheimer with 13 points. Luke Mattern added 10, Owen Yeadon 5, Austin Hostetler 3, Cal Stone 2, Blake Gribben 2, Eryk Weber 2, Treavor Floor 1, Marcus Jones 1.
Manchester won the junior varsity contest 46-26.
Leading the Squires was Devon Rooney with 15 points. Kane Gable added 10, Levi Hicks 8, Kam Lester 5, Jake Schannep 3, Braxtin Wilson 2, Andrew McAtee 2, Ethan Davis 1.
Leading Wabash was Matt Jones with 9 points. Blake Gribben added 6, Austin Weiland 4, Brandon Easterday 3, Devin Higdon 3, Christian Simpson 2.
