The Manchester boys basketball team played 15 players with 12 getting in the scoring column in a 71-43 win over Rochester Friday.
The Squires raced out to a 17-4 first quarter lead with four different players getting on the scoreboard. Chase Fierstos led the way with 6 points, while David McAtee had a long ball and 5 points. Koehl Fluke and Keelan Norwood also scored.
Manchester would continue to dominate in the second as they out scored Rochester 18-8 to jump out to a 35-12 halftime lead.Mason Hamby and Braydon Sewell joined Fierstos and McAtee in the scoring column.
The pace would pick up in the third as both teams raced up and down the floor with the Squires increasing their lead by winning the quarter 22-17 to lead 57-29 with a quarter to go. Fierstos had 7 points in the quarter which included a three, while McAtee, Fluke and Norwood had two buckets each. Levi Hicks also got on the board with a bucket.
With the game in hand the Squires went deep to their bench with the two teams playing to a 14-14 tie in the fourth. Braxtin Wilson led the Squires in the quarter with 5 points that included a long ball while Matthew Pegg, Brayden Casper, Kane Gable and Heath Dierks all scored.
Leading the Squires was Chase Fierstos with 22 points. David McAtee added 10, Koehl Fluke 10, Keelan Norwood 6, Mason Hamby 5, Braxtin Wilson 5, Heath Dierks 3, Braydon Sewell 2, Matthew Pegg 2, Brayden Casper 2, Levi Hicks 2, Kane Gable 2.
The Manchester junior varsity defeated Rochester 57-25.
