The Manchester boys basketball team used an explosive second quarter and scored in double figures every quarter, defeating Churubusco 72-51 Saturday.
The Eagles played with the Squires in the first as Manchester led just 19-14 after one. Koehl Fluke led the way with three long balls while Chase Fierstos and David McAtee also hit from behind the arch.
The Squires would open things up in the second, out scoring Churubusco 21-9 to open a 40-23 halftime lead. Again it was Fluke pacing Manchester as he hit his fourth and fifth three pointers along with a bucket and two free throws. Fierstos and Keelan Norwood each had two buckets with Braydon Sewell adding a bucket.
McAtee and Mason Hamby would hit three pointers in the third while Sewell and Fluke each had a bucket. The Squires won the quarter 14-11 and stretched their lead to 54-34 with a quarter to go.
In the fourth the Squires had 8 different players score with Fiertsos and Jake Schannep hitting their 10th and 11th three of the game to cruise to the 72-51 win.
Leading the Squires was Koehl Fluke with 23 points. Chase Fierstos added 14, David McAtee 11, Keelan Norwood 8, Braydon Sewell 6, Mason Hamby 5, Jake Schannep 3, Levi Hicks 2.
The Manchester junior varsity defeated Churubusco 51-23.
For the Squires Devon Rooney had 16 points. Heath Dierks added 11, Brayden Casper 8, Levi Hicks 4, Kane Gable 4, Kam Lester 3, Jake Schannep 3, Braxtin Wilson 2.
