Lady Squires Fall To Valley

The Manchester girls basketball team hosted 3A, #4 Tippecanoe Valley Thursday and the Vikings wasted no time showing why they went to the state championship game last year, defeating the Squires 69-42.

The Vikings exploded for 28 points in the first quarter and led Manchester 28-7 after one. Drew Thompson hit twice, including a three with Ellie Milam adding a bucket.

The pace slowed a bit in the second with Valley winning the quarter 13-7. Rae Bedke hit a three while Bailey Sewell hitting two buckets. Manchester trailed 41-14 at the half.

The Squires came to life in the second half, playing the Vikings to a 28-28 tie. Cierra Carter came to life, scoring 13 second half points to lead Manchester.

Leading the Squires was Cierra Carter with 13 points. Drew Thompson added 8, Bailey Sewell 8, Rae Bedke 7, Tiffany Johnson 2, Ellie Milam 2, Sydney Day 2.


The Manchester junior varsity defeated Valley 30-25.

Leading Manchester was Kennedy Fierstos with 19 points. Erika Kendall added 5, Kennidy Lauer 2, Jirni Cripe 2, Emma West 2.
