The Manchester boys basketball team dominated all but one quarter Friday as they defeated Tippecanoe Valley 61-50.
The Squires jumped out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter. Koehl Fluke led the way with three buckets for 6 points. Chase Fierstos added 3 points, including a long ball. Braydon Sewell and David McAtee each had two buckets with Keelan Norwood adding a bucket.
Valley would out score Manchester 20-11 in the second quarter to cut the Manchester lead to 32-28 at the half. Fluke and McAtee each had a three in the quarter.
The Squires would regroup at the half, but more on the defensive end than offensive. Manchester scored 12 points in the quarter while holding Valley to just 2. Chase Fierstos would score 8 points in the quarter with 6 coming on free throws. Manchester led 44-30 with a quarter to go.
Valley would go to the foul game in the fourth, out scoring the Squires 20-17, but key free throw shooting sealed the deal. The Squires were 11 of 16 from the line in the quarter with Fierstos hitting 9 from the charity stripe.
Leading Manchester was Chase Fierstos with 29 points. Koehl Fluke added 14, David McAtee 10, Braydon Sewell 4, Keelan Norwood 2, Matthew Pegg 2.
The Manchester junior varsity defeated Valley 37-20.
Leading the Squires was Levi Hicks with 10 points. Braxtin Wilson added 9, Kam Lester 5, Heath Dierks 4, Brayden Casper 3, Kane Gable 3, Devon Rooney 2, Jake Schannep 1.
