Spartans picked seventh in HCAC men’s tennis poll

Manchester University earned 36 ranking points on the 2016 Heartland Collegiate men’s tennis coaches poll, released Feb. 2.

The Spartans’ point total was good for seventh. Defending champion Rose-Hulman picked up all nine first-place votes and registered 81 points, 10 in front of second-place choice Earlham College.

A quartet of individuals from Coach Eric Christiansen’s squad made the Players to Watch Section. They were junior Stratton Smith (New Palestine, Ind.), sophomores Isaac Collis (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Spencer Thomas (Yorktown, Ind.) and freshman Connor Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.). MU opens its spring slate Friday, Feb. 26, hosting Alma College of Michigan in a double-dual with the women’s program at Fort Wayne’s Wildwood Racquet Club.
