Knights Even The Score With Norse

Back in December the Northfield boys basketball team defeated Southwood in the county tourney. On Friday the Knights paid a visit to Northfield with a score to settle, getting off to a good start and defeating the Norse 62-45 to finish with a perfect 9-0 TRC record.

The Knights would get a bucket from Brandin Frazier to start the game that ignited a 11-0 run. After the Frazier bucket Peyton Trexler and Alex Harmon made it 6-0 before a Trexler steal and a Carson Blair three made it 11-0. With 1:38 on the clock the Norse got the goose egg of the score board with an Austin Trump bucket before a Harmon two and a three ended the quarter with Southwood leading 16-2.

Brandin Frazier would get the first bucket of the second quarter to increase the Knight lead to 18-2 when the Norse started to settle in. Cody Holmes would hit two straight buckets, followed by a Trump bucket to make it 18-8. Harmon would stop the Northfield run with a bucket before two Kyle Reed free throws and a Ryan Driscoll bucket made it 20-12. The Knights would answer with 8 straight points off a bucket from Harmon, a three from Matthew Nose and a three point play from Harmon to lead 28-12 at the half.

The two teams would trade buckets for the first half of the third quarter and with the Knights leading 38-20 the Norse would close the gap. Trump would drain a three, followed by two Holmes free throws and a bucket and a three from Noah Shear to complete a 10-2 run to make it 40-30. Matthew Norse would then stop the run with a three before Frazier ended the quarter with a bucket and a 45-30 Southwood lead.

Frazier would make it 47-30 with the first points of the fourth quarter before a Shear three started an 8-3 run by the Norse to cut the Knight lead to 50-38. With Southwood leading 53-39 an 8-0 Knight run would seal the deal. Carson Blair hit a three that was followed by a Trexler free throw, plus a bucket and two free throws from Harmon to make it 61-39 as the Knights went on for the 62-45 win.
