After a one day delay because of rain the Wabash softball team traveled to Peru Tuesday, falling to the Tigers 16-6.
Wabash jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first before Peru scored 9 runs in the third in route to the win.
Bre Sewell would lead off the game with a double and was followed with a rbi double from Whitney Working to make it 1-0. Working would advance to third on the throw home, then score on a passed ball for a 2-0 lead. Olinger would the hit the Apaches third straight double and was followed by Montana Castro being hit by a pitch. With one out Olinger would steal third and home to lead 3-0.
After holding the Tigers scoreless in the first, Peru went off for 9 runs in the second, and 1 in the third to lead 10-3.
Wabash would plate 2 runs in the 4th. Mettler led off with a double before Sewell hit a two out double to drive home Mettler. Working would then single home Sewell to make it 10-5. Peru would answer with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 14-5.
Wabash would score their final run in the fifth. Halverson would hit a one out double, then scored on a Newman triple. Peru would score 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to end the night, 16-6.
