The Manchester softball team, just as the baseball team did played an away game at home Tuesday. The Lady Squires were suppose to play at North Miami, but with wet field conditions at North Miami the game was moved to Manchester. Tied at one in the sixth a two run double from Ellie Milam lifted the Squires past the Warriors 3-2.
North Miami would plate a run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead after Carlee Lefebvre led off with a walk. Alicia Tooley would sacrifice Lefebvre to second before Josie Knauff reached on a fielders choice with Lefebvre scoring.
The game would remain 1-0 until the top of the fourth. Kierra Stacy would reach on a North Miami error before Mattie McKee found first on a fielders choice with Stacy reaching second. After a pop fly moved the runners one base, Stacy would score on the arrant throw to tie the score at one.
In the sixth Cierra Carter would lead off with a single and was followed by Stacy reaching on an error with Carter advancing to second. After a force at third, Sydney Day would deliver a one out single to load the bases. A ground ball out created a force at home for the second out before Ellie Milam ripped a single to left, scoring McKee and Day to give Manchester a 3-1 lead.
Things got tense in the bottom of the seventh. Ashley Lackman led off with a single and was ran for by Riley Saddlemire. After two ground outs and Saddlemire standing on third, Ali Sumpter was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners. Knauff would then reach on a Squires error, scoring Saddlemire to make it 3-2 with runners on first and third before Squire pitcher Mattie McKee forced a pop up to end the game.
