The Northfield lady Norse softball team pounded out 11 hits Wednesday in a 9-2 win over Tippecanoe Valley.
Valley would score a run in the top of the first with Northfield tying the score in the bottom. With two outs Ally Keaffaber would rip a double and scored on Abby Keaffaber’s single.
Valley would take a 2-1 lead in the top of the third when the Norse answered with more than one run. With one out Paige Holley would single and was followed by an Ally Keaffaber double to make it 2-2. With two outs Jordan Shafer singled home Ally Keaffaber to grab a 3-2 lead before Breanna Burcroff reached on an error with Shafer rounding the bases for a 4-2 score.
The Lady Norse would increase their lead in the fourth. With one out Olivia Taylor would single and steal second. Taylor was moved to third on a Kendall ground out before Holley laced a triple to score Taylor. Ally Keaffaber would then single home courtesy runner Kelsey Thomson for a 6-2 lead.
The Norse put the game away in the sixth when Holley led off with a double with courtesy runner Thomson advancing to third on a wild pitch. Ally Keaffaber would then reach an an error, scoring Thomson to make it 7-2. Abby Keaffaber would then single and was ran for by Abbey Ross. A ground out moved the runners one base when a Burcroff ground out scored Thomson. Ross would then score on an error to make it 9-2.
