The Wabash baseball team split a pair of games Friday at Chris Rood Field, defeating North Miami 8-1 before falling to Twin Lakes in the night cap 8-0.
Against North Miami the Apaches were actually the visiting team since the game was suppose to be at North Miami, with wet diamond conditions moving the game to Wabash. The Apaches would plate two runs in the third to grab the lead. With one out Kaleb Kelsheimer would reach on an error before stealing second and advancing to third on a Jordan Holley ground out. Treavor Floor would then hit a shot over the left field fence to put the Apaches up 2-0.
North Miami would cut the Wabash lead in half in the fourth. Stewart would lead off with a single and stole second. After two strike outs Kelly would double home Stewart to make it 2-1.
Wabash would open a gap in the fifth when Justin Beauchamp reached on an error before Kelsheimer walked. After a double steal Beauchamp would score, followed by a Holley walk. Floor would then reach an a Warrior error to score Kelsheimer to make it 4-1 before a Jordan Burnsworth single scored Holley for a 5-1 score.
The Apaches would tack on two more runs in the sixth. Trevor Gray led off with a single before Zach Newman reached on a blown sac that scored Gray. With courtesy runner Rob Irgang on second Beauchamp would lace a double to put runners on second and third. A Kelsheimer walk and a Holley single made it 7-1.
Wabash would plate one more run in the seventh. Ben Dillon led off with a single before a fly out and a ground out moved Dillon to third. Beauchamp would then deliver an rbi single for the 8-1 score.
In game two the Apaches struggled at the plate against Twin Lakes, collecting just 4 hits in the 8-0 loss. Treavor Floor and Kaleb Kelsheimer each had a single. Jordan Burnsworth added a single and a double.
