The Manchester baseball team fell in a double dipper to Dekalb Saturday, falling in game one 16-3 before being defeated in game two 11-5.
In game one the Squires scored all 3 runs in the first. Bailey Ness led off with a single before being thrown out at second. Kane Gable then singled, followed by a Rylie Rickert single and a two run triple from Hayes Sturtsman. Janzin Cripe would then single home Sturtsman.
Bailey Ness had 3 hits. Rylie Rickert added 2 hits. Hayes Sturtsman had 1 hit and 2 rbi’s. Janzin Cripe added 1 hit and 1 rbi. Landon Tharp and Kane Gable each had a hit.
In game two the Squires trailed 1-0 heading to the bottom of the first when Gable hit a one out single, followed by David McAtee drawing a walk. Rickert would then single to load the bases when Sturtsman singled home Gable. Cripe would then drive home McAtee for a 2-1 lead.
The Squires would extend their lead in the third. McAtee would collect a one out single and was followed by a single from Rickert before Hayes Sturtsman smoke a 3 run shot in to out space for a 5-1 lead.
Dekalb would hold Manchester scoreless the remainder of the game while scoring 10 times in the 11-5 final.
Hayes Sturtsman had 2 hits, including a 3 run home run and 4 rbi’s. Rylie Rickert and Kane Gable each had 2 hits. Bailey Ness and David McAtee each had a hit.
