The Wabash baseball team took one on the chin Monday, traveling to Whitko and being defeated by the Wildcats 14-4 in five inninngs.
Wabash gave up 6 runs in the second inning before scoring in the third. Kaleb Kelsheimer would lead off with a single, steal second and advance to third on a wild pitch. With one out Treavor Floor would single home Kelsheimer to make it 6-1. Jordan Burnsworth would then be hit by a pitch before a wild pitch scored Floor for a 6-2 score.
Whitko would come back in the fourth to plate 5 runs to grab an 11-2 lead heading to the fifth. Burnsworth would lead off drawing a walk before an Austin Hostetler walk. Both runners would advance a base on a passed ball before Ben Dillon walked to load the bases. Burnsworth would then score on a wild pitch and was followed by Dillon doing the same to make the score 11-4.
Whitko would answer with 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game 14-4.
