The Manchester Tennis team continued their winning ways and raised their season record to 11-2 with a strong 5-0 conference victory over host Peru. The Lady Squires move to 7-0 in conference play and control their championship chase with 2 remaining matches. Peru put up a challenge at 1 singles, but the other four positions scored dominating wins by winning 48 games to 4 games lost. At two and three singles Karly Eichenauer and Leiah Brandenburg won 6-0,6-1 and 6-1,6-0 respectively. Reilly Ruppert and Kelsey Eichenauer cruised to a 6-1,6-1 win while Bethany Collett and Lydia Little overpowered their opponents 6-0,6-0. In one singles play, Allison Smith started strong winning the first two games. After leading 3-2, Smith won the next 4 games to take set one 6-2. The Squire senior kept up her intensity up to lead 4-1 in the second set. Peru would battle back to tie it 4-4. Allison then served up several service winners to lead 5-4 followed by converting on her fourth match point to win 6-2,6-4. Manchester JV took just 3 of its 18 players due to Peru’s small team and won 2-1. Luisa Bente and Brylee Kerr both won singles matches.
Manchester travels to Tipp Valley on Friday for a rescheduled match and faces Southwood on Monday.
