The Manchester and Southwood softball teams hooked up Wednesday at Manchester with the Lady Squires scoring 6 runs in the sixth to defeat the Lady Knights 10-2.
Manchester would strike first in the second inning. Kennedy Fierstos led off with a walk before being forced out at second on an Ellie Milam grounder. Keali Carter would then walk to put runners on first and second before Milam was caught in a rundown for an out. With Carter on second Emma West doubled up the middle to score Carter for a 1-0 lead.
The Knights would grab the lead in the top of the fourth when Kassidy Atwood led off with a walk, followed by a Brooke Elliott single. Skylar Chain then walked to load the bases before Delayne Gentry reached on an error, scoring Atwood to tie the score. With two outs Chain would score on a Makayla Proffitt fly to right to give Southwood a 2-1 lead. Manchester would grab the lead back in the bottom of the inning. Milam would lead off with a walk before Keali Carter singled with the ball hitting Milam for an out. West would then draw a walk before the two runners moved a base on a steal. Carter would then score on a passed ball to make it 2-2. With West standing on third Katelyn Andritsch would reach on a fielders choice to put runners on the corners. Cierra Carter would then reach on a fielders choice with West scoring for a 3-2 lead. After a Stacy single Mattie McKee hit into a fielders choice that scored Andritsch for a 4-2 lead.
Manchester would break the game open in the sixth. West would lead off with a walk and was followed by a Cierra Carter one out walk. Kiera Stacy would then reach on an error, scoring West. McKee would then reach on a fielders choice before Sydney Day singled to score Carter and Stacy for a 7-2 lead. Kennedy Fierstos then singled home McKee and Day for a 9-2 lead. With the bases loaded and two outs Andritsch would draw a walk for the final run in a 10-2 game.
