The Wabash baseball team grabbed an early lead at Northwestern Friday, but couldn’t hold off the host as the Apaches fell 4-3.
Wabash grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first when Kaleb Kelsheimer led off with a single and advanced to second on an interference call. Jordan Holley would sac Kelsheimer to third before Treavor Floor smoke a 2 run shot over the center field fence for a 2-0 lead. Northwestern would come back to plate 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Apaches would regain their lead in the second. With one out Zach Newman would walk and ran for by Taylor Vigar. Justin Beauchamp would the single. With two outs Vigar would score on a balk for a 3-2 lead.
The Apaches bats would go cold the remainder of the game, not having a base runner with Northwestern scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 4-3 win.
