The Southwood baseball team took a pair of games from Eastbrook Saturday. On a miserable day the Knights used a 3 run fourth inning for a comeback 4-2 win in game one before bouncing back to take game two 12-7.
In game one Eastbrook would plate a run in the top of the first with the Knights answering with a run in the bottom of the inning. With one out Clay Hinrichsen would single before stealing second. Brennan Kelly would move Hinrichsen to third with a grounder before Hinrichsen scored on a balk to make it 1-1.
In the top of the fourth Eastbrook would grab a 2-1 lead that was short lived. In the bottom of the fourth Brandin Frazier would lead off with a double and move to third on a one out Matt Cox single. Christian Deeter would then single home Frazier to make it 2-2. Bobby Mettler would then single with Cox being thrown out at the plate. With two runners on Will Roberts doubled home both to give the Knights a 4-2 lead that they would hold the remainder of the game.
In game two the Knights would strike early. Eastbrook scored a run in the top of the first with Southwood answering with 2 in the bottom. After Zach Ball led off with a single Clay Hinrichsen deposited a shot over the center field fence to grab a 2-1 lead.
Southwood would break things open in the second. Matt Cox led off with a walk before Bobby Mettler did the same. Mason Lloyd would then walk to load the bases when Will Roberts singled home Cox to make it 3-1. A Zach ball single scored Mettler and Lloyd to increase the lead to 5-1, but the Knights were not done. Hinrichsen would then be hit by a pitch before a Kelly sac fly scored Roberts for a 6-1 score. Frazier would then reach on a fielders choice with Ball crossing the plate to make it 7-1. Carson Blair and Cox would then draw back to back walks to load the bases before Mettler was hit by a pitch to force home run numer 8 for an 8-1 lead.
Eastbrook would plate a run in the top of the third with Southwood matching the run in the bottom of the inning. Roberts would lead off with a walk and with one out stole second and third. Hinrichsen would reach on a Panther error to put runners on the corners before Roberts was thrown out at home on a Kelly grounder. Hinrichsen would then score on a passed ball to make it 9-2.
The Panthers would pickup a run in the fourth to make it 9-3 before the Knights scored two in the fifth. Roberts would lead off with a walk and advance to second on a passed ball. Hinrichsen then singled home Roberts for the Knights 10th run. Silvers would come in to run for Hinrichsen before scoring on a Frazier single to grab an 11-3 lead.
Again the two teams would trade runs in the sixth. After an Eastbrook run in the top Mettler would walk and take second on a passed ball. After stealing third Lloyd would draw a walk before Mettler scored on a sac fly by Roberts to make it 12-4.
Eastbrook would score 3 runs in the top of the seventh, but the Knights lead was plenty as they took game two 12-7 for a double header sweep.
