Wabash Middle School travelled to Gas City to face an aggressive RJ Baskett team. Baskett scored first putting Wabash’s defense on their heels for much of the first half. Wabash’s Wyatt Davis answered midway through the first half with back to back goals putting the Apaches ahead for the first time in the game. Elijah Vander Veldon secured multiple quality saves before giving up a goal just before halftime. Wabash struck early in the second half on a nice passing combination from Jonah France to Grant Carendante who tucked the ball into the net to make the score 3-2. RJ Baskett answered a few minutes later with a loose ball goal to tie up the game. Wabash’s defense solidified after that allowing only 2 more shots on goals, while the Apache offense pinned RJ basket in their own half for most of the next 20 minutes. The Apache effort was rewarded when Wyatt Davis scored his third goal of the game for a hat trick with just under three minutes to go to secure the victory.
Wabash is now 6-0. Next game is home vs Kings Academy at 6:00 on 5/19.
