The Manchester softball team sent a loud and clear message to sectional host Oak Hill Thursday. Lady Squires pitcher Brooklyn Howard held the Eagles to just one hit while the Squires collected 8 and steam rolled the Eagles 10-0 in five innings.
Manchester would take a 1-0 lead in the first when Emma West led off with a single and took second on a passed ball. With two outs Kiera Stacy would double home West for the 1-0 lead.
The Squires would break things open in the second. With one out Howard would single and was followed by a Kennedy Fierstos double. Ellie Milam then drew a walk to load the bases before a West single made it 2-0. Kateyln Andritsch would follow with a walk to force home Fierstos to lead 3-0 before Cierra Carter reached on a fielders choice to score Milam. Stacy would drive home the final run of the inning with a double for a 5-0 lead.
Manchester would end the evening in the fifth. Milam would lead off with a double that was followed by West reaching on an error. Andritsch then singled to load the bases before Stacy reached on an error to score Milam and West for a 7-0 lead. Mattie McKee then drew a walk to load the bases again before Stacy scored on a passed ball to make it 9-0. McKee would end the game scoring on a passed ball for the 10-0 win.
Howard threw just 66 pitches for the shut out.
