The Wabash baseball team played in the Benton Central Invite Saturday, falling to Western 11-5 before bouncing back to defeat Benton Central 3-1.
The Apaches trailed 5-0 against Western heading to the third when they got on the board. Justin Beauchamp led off with a single that was followed by a Kaleb Kelsheimer single. A sacrifice from Jordan Holley that was botched loaded the bases before Treavor Floor singled home Beauchamp. With two outs Ben Dillon would reach on a dropped third strike with Kelsheimer crossing the plate to make it 5-2. Western would respond in the bottom of the inning with 3 runs to grab an 8-2 lead.
Wabash would score a solo run in the fourth. With one out Beauchamp would single and advance to third on the throw before a Kelsheimer ground out scored Beauchamp to make it 8-3
Western would score 3 runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 11-3 before the Apaches responded with 2 runs in the seventh. Holley would draw a one out walk before a Floor single. Holley would score on the throw to make it 11-4 before a Jordan Burnsworth single scored Floor for the 11-5 score.
In game two the Apaches trailed 1-0 heading to the seventh when they erupted for 3 runs. With one out Zach Newman drew a walk and was ran for by Taylor Vigar. Beauchamp would then single before Kelsheimer reached on an error to load the bases. Holley then reached on a fielders choice with Vigar scoring to tie the score. Floor would then reach on an error that scored Beauchamp and Holley to give Wabash a 3-1 lead.
