The Northfield baseball team got in one more game before sectional Monday, traveling to Bellmont and falling in a slug fest to the Braves 10-8.
The Norse jumped out to a lead in the top of the second. Jared Vigar led off with a double and moved to third on a Blake Harner sacrifice. Vigar then scored when a dropped third strike was thrown to first. Xian Rodriguex then walked before a Jarred Short triple made it 2-0, then scored on a bad throw to make it 3-0. Bellmont answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Bellmont would score a run in the third, four in the fourth and four in the fifth to grab a 10-3 lead before the Norse started to chip away at the lead. In the sixth Drake Richter would draw a walk and was followed by Jakob Hayes reaching on an error. Reminton Monce then singled home Richter to make it 10-4 and was followed by a Vigar single to score Hayes for a 10-5 score. Vigar would advance to third on a balk before Chance Hartman drew a walk. With two outs Jarred Short would single home Vigar to make it 10-7.
In the seventh Hayes would hit a one out single and was followed by a Monce double. Hayes would score on a balk for the final Northfield run as they fell 10-8.
