The Northfield baseball team took an #1 South Newton in the semi finals of the Tri County sectional Saturday, coming back to tie the score before giving up a run in the bottom of the seventh to fall 4-3.
The Norse took the lead in the second when Mason Hovey reached on a one out error. Jackson Beery was then hit by a pitch with two outs before Jarred Short singled up the middle to score Hovey and grab a 1-0 lead.
South Newton would come back to score 2 runs in the fourth and 1 in the fifth to lead 3-1 before the Norse drew even in the top of the seventh. With one out Hovey would double and was followed with a rbi single from Chance Hartman to make it 3-2. Beery then singled and was followed by a Short single to load the bases. Dylan Brown then hit a sac fly that scored Hartman to tie the score 3-3. South Newton would manufacture a run in the bottom of the inning for the win with a single, a sacrifice, a wild pitch and a fly ball to defeat Northfield 4-3.
