The Northfield softball team got the start they wanted in the championship game of the sectional Saturday against North Miami before the Lady Warriors came back to defeat the Norse 10-2.
In the top of the first Kiana Kendall led off with a single before Abby Keaffaber hit a two run shot against the green monster in center field to give Northfield a 2-0 lead. North Miami would answer with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning when Carlee Lefebvre led off drawing a walk and was followed by Alicia Tooley reaching on an error. With runners on second and third with two outs Josie Knauff would single home Lefebvre and Tooley to make it 2-2. Enyart would then be hit by a pitch before Emmy Grant hot a sac fly to score Knauff for a 3-2 lead.
The Lady Warriors would tack on 3 runs in the fourth. With one out Ashley Lackman singled and was ran for by Riley Saddlemire. Lefebvre would then single to left before Tooley reached on an error to score Saddlemire. Again, with runners on second and third Sumpter would hit a sac fly that scored Lefebvre before a Knauff single scored Tooley to make it 6-2.
North Miami would plate one run in the fifth. Grant would draw a walk and was moved to second by Wilkinson. See then reached on an error that score Grant for a 7-2 lead.
The last runs for the Warriors came in the sixth. Tooley would reach on an error before Sumpter did the same. Knauff then doubled to drive home Tooley before a Grant double scored Sumpter and Knauff to lead 10-2.
In the seventh the Norse would get a lead off double from Ashley Koch and a walk from Shelby Ward before a pop up, a fielders choice and a ground out ended the game.
