The Wabash football team was looking to match last years start and Friday against Manchester things looked gloomy for the first quarter as the Squires led 7-0 before the Apaches scored 28 straight points in a 28-14 win over the Squires.
The majority of the first quarter was played in the middle of the field until Hayes Sturtsman found Devon Rooney from 69yds out with 26.2 left in the first to give Manchester a 7-0 lead.
On the second possession for Wabash in the second quarter they would find pay dirt. Apache Qurterback Sammy Hipskind would connect with Logan Vander Velden on a 31yd strike. The extra point was blocked as Manchester clung to a 7-6 lead. Wabash would get one last possession in the second quarter and made it count, marching 69yds before Luke Proctor scored from 9yds out with 6.2 seconds remaining as the Apaches led 12-7 at the half.
Wabash would get the lone score of the third quarter when Proctor would find the end zone for the second time, again from 9yds out to give Wabash a 20-7 lead heading to the final quarter.
The Apaches wasted no time scoring in the fourth. With 10:08 on the clock Hipskind would connect with Eryk Weber from 15yds out. Proctor would convert the two point conversion for a 28-7 lead. The Squires would bounce back to give Manchester some hope when Sturtman and Rooney connected again, this time from 34yds out to make it 28-14. The Squires defense would hold and mount another drive, taking it to the Wabash 27 before running out of downs.
