Southwood/Wabash CC Compete In States Largest Invite

The Southwood and Wabash cross country teams ran in the Marion Invite Saturday. This invite has become the largest in the state. Both schools ran in the gold race which is for smaller schools.

In the girls race Southwood finished third with Wabash placing seventh. The race was won by Oak Hill

In the boys race Wabash finished fifth, Southwood eleventh. The race was won by Hagerstown

In the JH race, the Southwood boys competed in a field of 22 other teams from central Indiana. Finishing 8th overall. Braden Sweet once again led the team, earning a 5th place finish and setting a new PR of 10:37. Cayden Prickett and Alix Winer displayed solid performances by both setting new PR’s. Cayden covered the 3000 meters in 11:31, finishing 33rd, and Alix in 11:51 in 45th. Zach Roudeboush and Jayden Timmons ran their season best times in 13:24 and 13:59. Skylar Amos also ran a season best time of 15:01. First time runners, Ashton Steele, Micah Pence, and Braxton Willis all set new PR’s at 15:41, 17:05, and 18:46

The Girls’ JH Cross Country team competed in the Marion Invitational Saturday and IWU. In a field of 21 teams, the Lady Knights placed 15th. Due to an a missed turn by the Gator leading the race, the runners extended their usual 3000 meter course by 210 meters. Competing in a field of 238 runners, Aleia Sweet placed 54th, Alaina Winer finished 84th, and Monica Hobson placed 106th. Also running for the Lady Knights were Aaliyah Douglass, Hattie Cochran, Abby Fouts, and Maddison Hunter.
