The Southwood football team traveled to North Miami Friday with the Warriors ground game being to much to overcome as they fell 38-26 to North Miami.
North Miami took a 3-0 lead halfway through the first quarter on a Connor Hanaway field goal, then got an 84yd TD run from Zane Briggs with 2:11 left to go up 10-0.
The Knights would cut into the lead early in the second when Carson Blair hooked up with Zach Ball on a 24yd pass play to make it 10-7 with 10:28 to play in the half. With 7:44 left Blair would find Blake Martz for a touchdown as the Knights grabbed a 14-10 lead. The speedy Briggs would then brake loose again with 3:15 on the clock as the Warriors took the lead 17-14. With the rain settling in, North Miami forced a fumble that led to a Shane Holden 24yd score with 27.8 left for a 24-14 halftime lead.
The defenses would dominate most of the third quarter when the Knights forced a fumble that led to a Carson Blair 6yd TD run with 2:30 on the clock to cut the North Miami lead to 24-20.
The Warriors would increase their lead to 31-20 on a Holden 46yd touchdown, then force a fumble that led to a Trevor Linn TD to make it 38-20. The last score of the game came from Matt Cox on a one yard run for the 38-26 final.
