No matter the records the Wabash and Northfield volleyball teams are going to mix it up and they did once more Thursday with the Lady Apaches taking the match 24-26, 25-14, 25-22, 25-23.
Northfield would take the first game, taking advantage of several Wabash errors and making a key run late in the game. With Wabash leading 20-15 the Apaches would make a couple mistakes and along with a kill from Jordan Bratch Northfield cut the lead to 20-18. At 22-18 it would be much of the same, this time with the Norse scoring 6 straight and taking a 24-22 lead on two Bratch kill before Wabash tied the game at 24. Again the Norse would find Bratch and score two straight for the 26-24 win.
The Lady Apaches remained a bit sluggish to start game two and led 10-9 when things changed. Alexis Hartley and Sam Irgang would kill back to back that ignited a 9-3 run to grab a 19-12 lead. Wabash would then find Angela Levine for a couple kills along with Abby Vinopal serving two aces as the lead grew to 23-13 before winning 25-14.
Wabash would jump out to a 4-0 lead to start game three off kills from Jaycee Parrett, Tabatha Wagner and Sam Irgang before Northfield answered with four straight. Ashley Koch had two kills for the Norse. At that point it looked as though Wabash was going to run away with the game, going on a 15-6 run to grab a 19-10 lead when the lights went out on their side of the net. Northfield would get three straight aces from Ava Smith and a kill from Koch to score 7 straight to make it 19-17. At 20-17 the Norse would score 5 straight ending with a kill from Kiana Kendall to give Northfield a 22-20 lead. The Apaches would regroup, getting two kills from Levine and one each from Sam Irgang and Wagner to score the last 5 points of the game for a 25-22 win.
Game four was a back and forth affair with the lead changing or being tied 14 times with Northfield leading 22-19. With Abby Vinopal serving the Apaches would score 3 straight to tie the score before Northfield grabbed a 23-22 lead off a Wabash error. Parrett would then score off a tip, followed by kills from Hartley and Levine to end the game 25-23 and the night 3-1.
