Northfield’s Jr High football teams traveled to Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday evening. In the seventh grade game, the host Vikings won a hard fought game 14-0. The young Norse drastically improved from last week’s game and only gave up two big plays. Unfortunately, that was the difference. The 8th grade bounced back from last week’s loss with a tremendous defensive game. The Norse D pitched a shutout winning 24-0. Leading the charge on defense was Micah Higgins who scooped up a fumble and raced down the sidelines for a touchdown. Jarret Shafer threw two touchdown passes to Alex Haupert. Haupert had a huge assist from Clayton Tomlinson on his second score. Shafer, Tomlinson, and Haupert pulled off a perfect hook and lateral to put the game out of reach. Logan Cox scored a touchdown early, and along with Blayne Powell, kept the chains moving with power running. The Norse will visit Manchester next Tuesday at 5:30. There will only be one game combining 7th and 8th graders due to Manchester’s low numbers.
