SANDUSKY, OHIO – Junior Jacob Hopkins (Kokomo, Ind.) produced a sparkling four-over-par 75 Sunday, Sept. 18, leading Manchester University at Ohio Wesleyan’s Battle at the Brook.
Hopkins, taking seven shots off his opening round tally at Plum Brook Country Club, was one of three Spartans to take numbers off their first 18. Sophomore Connor Labedz (Aurora, Ill.) did the same, going from 89 to 88, while freshman Zach Edwards (Indianapolis, Ind.) took four shots off his Saturday 18 (114-110).
MU turned in a 703 for ninth-place. Hopkins’ 157 left him tied for 32nd, while senior Andrew Topp (Monticello, Ind.) registered twin 85s to stand at 170 and be within the top 50, too.
The Spartans break from competition next week. They continue their fall season Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1 and 2, at Wabash College’s fall tournament.
