One week after putting up 54 points against Wabash the Southwood offensive machine was at it again, scoring 52 points in a 52-35 win over Whitko Friday.
The Knights would get on the board twice in the first quarter. The first score cam when Carson Blair hooked up with Blake Martz on a 77yd score to make it 7-0, then found Peyton Trexler from 10yds out to lead 14-0 after one.
Whitko would cut the lead in half to start the second quarter on a 24yd run to make it 14-7 when the Knights answered. After a drive Matt Cox found pay dirt from 1yd out to go up 21-7. Back came the Wildcats, scoring on a 3yd run with the extra point being blocked to make it 21-13. On the insuing kick off, Trexler would run the kick back 95yds with the two point conversion failing for a 27-13 lead. Whitko would come right back in the shoot out, scoring on a 63yd pass play for a 27-19 score. The Knights would srtike back quick when Blair hit Martz for an 80yd pass play. Whitko had one more chance to score in the quarter when Trexler picked off the pass and raced 48yds for a touchdown and a 39-19 halftime lead.
Whitko would strike first in the third quarter on a run play before Blair connected with Trexler for 65yds to make it 46-27 with a quarter to go.
The last Knights score came in the fourth when Blair broke loose for 38yds, then scored the two point conversion. Southwood would give up one more score before the buzzer as they buried Whitko 52-35.
