The Southwood Boys JH Cross Country Team competed in the Wabash Invitational Saturday morning. The Knights settled for a 5th place finish in the field of 13 teams after conceding to Northfield in a tie-breaker determined by the 6th man.
For the 8th time this season, Braden Sweet ran away from the competition in another 1st place finish. Braden covered the distance in 10:37.0 matching his Personal Best previously set at IWU. Running 2nd for the team was Cayden Prickett, finishing 6th and setting a new PR of 11:21. Alix Winer was our 3rd man, placing 16th with an 11:55 finish.
Rounding out scoring for the Knights were Zach Roudeboush in 49th with a season best time of 13:04. Skylar Amos placed 77th. Jayden Timmons recovered after a fall to finish 79th. Ashton Steele placed 81st.
Also competing for the Knights were Micah Pence and Braxton Willis, both setting new PR’s of 16:56 and 18:03.
The boys race in their final meet of the season at Tipp Valley next Saturday as they compete in RRC.
The Lady Knights JH Cross Country Team competed in the Wabash Invitational Saturday morning at the Wabash City Park. The girls’ team finished 9th in a field of 13 teams.
Aleia Sweet led the team with a 17th place finish in a season best time of 13:27. Alaina Winer, running 2nd for Southwood, placed 30th in 14:05. Running 3rd for the team was Aaliyah Douglass who placed 49th with a PR of 14:53. Rounding out scoring for the Lady Knights were Monica Hobson in 57th and Hattie Cochran with a new PR of 16:33 in 75th place.
Also competing for the girls’ team were Abby Fouts setting a new PR of 16:47 and Maddison Hunter.
The girls cross country team will compete in their final meet of the season next Saturday at RRC.
