The Manchester football team was looking for their first win of the season Friday and led after three quarters before falling to Tippecanoe Valley 31-28.
Trailing 6-0 in the first quarter Squires quarterback Hayes Sturtsman would find the end zone from 11yds and after the Kane Gable kick Manchester led 7-6 after one.
Valley would grab the lead again in the second on a 15yd pass play, but the Squires would answer. After a defensive stop Gable would break loose for a 60yd punt return, but the two point conversion failed as the Squires trailed 13-12 at the half.
Again in the third Valley would be the first to score, finding the end zone on a 2yd run to go up 19-12. The Squires would then grab their second lead of the game when Sturtsman found Gable from 15yds out to make it 19-18. Josh Shepherd would then run in the two point conversion as Manchester went up 20-19 after three.
The Viking offense would find their ground game in the fourth, scoring on runs of 9yds and 5yds to grab a 31-20 lead with time running out. The Squires would not quit though, marching down the field with Sturtsman finding Devon Rooney from 26yds out with under two minutes to play. After Gable ran in the two point conversion the Squires were down 31-28. Valley would recover the onside kick, needing just one first down which they got to run out the clock in the 31-28 final.
