The Wabash and Manchester tennis teams traveled to Peru Thursday to battle for the sectional championship with the Apaches sweeping the Squires 5-0. The sectional title is the first for Wabash since 2011.
Wabash #3 singles player Alex Driscoll was the first to get a win, defeating Logan Parrett 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Rob Ford was next, defeating Spence Trick 6-0, 6-1 to put Wabash a win away from clinching the title. Luke Mattern would then top Luke Donathan 6-0, 6-2 at #1 singles to seal the championship. The #1 doubles team of Cal Stone & Asif Khan would pick up the Apaches fourth win, defeating Heath Dierks & Parker Wagoner 6-1, 6-0 before #2 doubles Matt Stein & Ayden Kocher ended the evening defeating Kyle Shepherd & Uria Hein 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
