The Southwood Lady Knights opened their 2016-2017 season with a convincing road victory over the Pioneer Panthers Tuesday 58 – 31.
The Knights shot 22 for 59 (37.3%) from the field which included 2-15 from behind the arc. The Knights were only 12-25 (48%) from the free throw line but did win the rebounding battle-46-36.
Offensively, the Knights placed 11 girls in the scoring column. Brooke Elliott led the scoring with 17 points, adding 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 4 pass deflections and a blocked shot. Ashley Parson chipped in with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 5 pass deflections. Kassidy Atwood scored 9 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, blocked 4 shots, had 4 steals and had 5 pass deflections. Taylor Heath added 4 points, had 2 rebounds, added a team leading 4 assists, made 4 steals and added 6 pass deflections. Makenna Dawes had 3 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 6 pass deflections. Keegan Simpson and Kayla Mays both added 3 points while Morgan Farr, Makenna Pace and Sydney Helfin all had 2 points. Alissa Pershing added 1 point and grabbed 3 rebounds.
The Knights will travel to Blackford on Monday, November 14 to meet the Bruins
