Senior outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) topped Manchester University’s selections to the 2016 all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball honor lists, released Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Chowning, picking up her second first team selection which is a first for the program since entering the conference, closed her Black and Gold playing career as the all-time leader in kills per set (3.23) and ranking second in total kills (1,157). Her 2016 season kill (353) and kill per set (3.5) numbers put her fourth and third, respectively, on the HCAC’s statistical top five.
Middle hitter Riley Patterson (Kokomo, Ind.) landed on the All-Freshman team. She found herself in the league’s top 15 in total service aces (30 – No. 11) and service aces per set (.34 – No. 9) to go along with a No. 11 ranking in hitting percentage (.233).
The remaining two honors for Coach Bryndon Paulsen’s 2016 squad went to sophomore setter Dakota Stanichuk (Athens, Mich.) and senior setter Heather Racine (Evansville, Ind.). Stanichuk picked up her second honorable mention award after leading the conference in service aces per set (.42 ps) and tying for the top spot in assists per set (10.21), while Racine was the team’s Sportmanship honoree.
