The Southwood boys went on the road to Rochester Thursday and were flirting with 100 points, falling just short in a 93-59 win over the Zebras.
The Knights would come out swinging, scoring 21 points in the first quarter, getting 10 points from Carson Blair that included tow long balls. The Knights also got four buckets from Peyton Trexler and one from Blake Martz to lead 21-12 after the first stop.
The long ball assault would pick up in the second, getting two from Blair and Dallas Holmes, plus one each from Trexler and Martz. Southwood would out score Rochester 31-18 in the quarter and led 50-30 at the half.
Things would settle just a bit in the third as the Knights won the quarter 17-16. Blair would score 7 points and hit his fifth three, with Trexler also hitting again from behind the arch. Trexler scored 5 points in the quarter with Matt Nose scoring 4 and Holmes 2. Southwood led 67-46 with a quarter to go.
Matt Nose would take over in the fourth, scoring 9 points while Holmes and Ethen Roberts each had a three. Trexler and Blair would each score 4 points while Martz added 1 and Jackson Simons 1 for the 93-59 final
The Knights put five players in double figures led by Carson Blair with 29 points. Peyton Trexler added 23, Matt Nose 16, Dallas Holmes 11, Blake Martz 10, Ethen Roberts 3, Jackson Simons 1.
Despite another great defensive effort from the JV Knights, they dropped a 2 point, 33-31 game to the Rochester.
Jackson Simons and Luke Winer shared the high scorer with 9 a piece. Ethen Roberts led in rebounding with 9, 7 points and 3 steals. Quentin Perry returned to the line-up after an injury and added 4 points and 2 assists. Gabe Lloyd struggled offensively with 2 points, but played an inspired defensive game with 3 steals.
