Knights Blow Out Madison Grant For 8th Consecutive Win

For the second night in a row the #9 Southwood Knights won via a blow out, jumping out to a 19-3 lead on their way to a 77-38 win over Madison Grant Wednesday to win their 8th game in a row.

Southwood jumped on the Argylls right from the opening tip, getting a bucket from Peyton Trexler that started a 12-0 run. Carson Blair followed with back to back three pointers with Jeffery Finicle score on a reverse lay up off a steal. Blair finished the run with a bucket before Madison Grant got on the board with 4:00 left in the quarter to make it 12-3. Blair would come right back with a bucket and was followed by a Trexler bucket before Blair drained hit third three of the quarter as the lead grew to 19-3. The Argylls would make it 19-6 before Blake Martz ended the scoring in the quarter with two free throws for a 21-6 lead.

Trexler would get the first bucket of the second quarter that was matched by Madison Grant before Matt Nose scored off an offensive rebound and was followed by a Finicle bucket off a steal. Nose would then hit a free throw as the lead grew to 28-8. Finicle and Trexler would continue pressure at the top of the key that resulted in buckets with Martz again scoring the last point of the quarter as the Knights led 33-13 at the half.

As hot as the offense was it would get even hotter in the third as the Knights put up 28 points. Blair would start the third with a three with Trexler doing most of the damage early as the lead grew to 50-19. Martz would add a three in the quarter with Trexler scoring 10 points as the route was on with Southwood leading 61-29 after three.

Madison Grant would score the first 5 points of the fourth before Martz converted a three point play, followed by a Dallas Holmes bucket to make it 66-34. At 68-38 Holmes would hit again, followed by a bucket from Paul Farlow. Holmes and Braden Barney would each get a bucket down the stretch with Jackson Simons adding a free throw for the 77-38 final.

Leading the Knights was Peyton Trexler with 18 points. Carson Blair added 16(13 in the first quarter), Dallas Holmes 12, Blake Martz 11, Matt Nose 9, Jeff Finicle 6, Paul Farlow 2, Braden Barney 2, Jackson Simons 1.

The JV Knights once again blasted out to a big first half lead (31-11) and coasted to their 14th win on the season 49-25.

All 10 players once again got to see multiple minutes of action. Gabe Lloyd led the team with 12 points and had 4 steals. Both Ethen Roberts and Luke Winer scored 10 points. Ethen had 5 steals and Luke had 3. Jackson Simons led in rebounding with 4 and had 7 points. Braden Barney had 3 blocked shots and 4 points. Quentin Perry added 3 points. Ty Rosier had 2 points and Colby Crow had 1 point. Dylan Filip had 4 rebounds and Jarrett Smith had 2.
