The Manchester basketball team suffered a cold shooting night with the defense also struggling as they fell to Columbia City 52-39 Friday.
The Squires found the bucket four times in the first quarter with David McAtee leading the way with 7 points. McAtee drained a three and a two while Mason Hamby hit once as Manchester trailed 15-10 after the first stop.
Manchester remained cold in the second as Hamby hit a three with Adam Byers and Koehl Fluke each adding a bucket as the Columbia City lead grew to 26-17 at the half.
The Squires would start to find their groove in the third as they out scored the Eagles 14-9. Hamby would connect from behind the arch again while hitting two deuces. McAtee added two buckets as the Squires closed the deficit to 37-31 with a quarter to go.
Hamby would hit his third three in the fourth with Byers and McAtee each adding a bucket, but Columbia City converted at the free throw line down the stretch for the 52-39 final.
The Manchester junior varsity fell to Columbia City 45-36.
