The Northfield baseball team opened their season on the road at Churubusco Monday, scoring 4 runs in the third and riding the arm of Sam Burcroff in a 4-1 win.
The Norse had just one hit the first two innings which was a Jacob Truman single before breaking things open in the third. With one out Macauley Miller would draw a walk before stealing second. Chance Hartman would then walk to put runners on first and second before Jared Vigar walked to load the bases. Braden Ripplinger would then be hit by a pitch to force home Miller for a 1-0 lead. After an infield fly Hartman would score on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead. Cole Rosen then walked to load the bases again. Taking advantage of the Busco pitching problems Vigar and Ripplinger would both score on wild pitches for a 4-0 lead before a ground out ended the inning.
Burcroff would continue to control the game on the mound, not giving up a run until the sixth. Nate Drancik would take the mound in the seventh to seal the win.
