The Manchester Lady Squires could not have ask for a better way to start the season, getting a no hitter from pitcher Brooklyn Howard while pounding out 20 hits in a 17-0 road win over Central Noble.
Manchester would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Emma West led off with a single to center before stealing second. Howard would then lay down a bunt single with West racing around to the plate for the 1-0 lead.
Mattie McKee would lead off the second with a single before scoring on an Ellie Milam double for a 2-0 lead.
The Squires would open a comfortable lead in third. Sydney Day would reach on a one out error before a Kiera Stacy walk put runners on first and second. The two runners would pull off a double steal before Kennedy Fierstos put down a bunt single that scored Day for a 3-0 lead. With runners on second and third after a Fierstos steal Milam would double again, driving home both runners to lead 5-0. Erika Kendall then singled, driving home Milam to make it 6-0.
Manchester would tack on a couple more in the fourth. West would lead off with a single and steal second. Howard would then single home West to make it 7-0. With one out Howard would steal third before scoring on a balk.
In the sixth leading 8-0 West would again lead off with a single before Howard moved West to third. Day would then single to put runners on the corners before a Stacy walk loaded the bases. Fierstos would then score West with a ground ball as the lead grew to 9-0.
With one out in the seventh the Squires bats would catch fire, scoring 8 times to grab a 17-0 lead as Howard finished her no hitter in the bottom of the inning.
