The Northfield baseball team scored just one run Monday on the road at Whitko, but that was all pitcher Blake Harner needed as he tossed a no hitter at the Wildcats in a 1-0 win.
The Norse collected just 5 hits with a Chance Hartman single coming in the first and a Harner single in the second before the Norse got the run they needed in the third. Sam Burcroff and Mccauley Miller would each reach on an error. With one out Jacob Truman reached on an error to load the bases before a Hartman single scored Burcroff for the 1-0 lead. Two ground balls would end the inning with the bases full. Harner would strike out the side in the bottom of the inning.
The Norse would threaten again in the sixth. With two outs Braden Ripplinger would double and was followed by a Jared Vigar single with Ripplinger being held at third before a ground out ended the inning.
Harner would continue to mow through the Whitko batters, aided by a double play in the seventh. After a lead off walk for the Wildcats, center fielder Cole Rosen would catch a fly ball and double off the runner at first before a ground out secured the no hitter and a Northfield 1-0 win.
