Knights Get TRC Road Win At Valley

The Southwood baseball team took the trip to Tippecanoe valley Monday, scoring 5 runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Vikings 9-5.

The Knights would plate 2 runs in the top of the first with Valley cutting the lead in half in the bottom. The Knights would increase their lead in the third, scoring twice to go up 4-1, then plate 5 runs in the fifth for a 9-1 lead. Valley would score 4 times in the seventh, but the cushion built early in the game was enough as Southwood topped Valley 9-5.

Carson Blair was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and 4 runs batted in. Joel Hinds was also 2 for 4 with one home run and 2 RBIs. Gabe Lloyd was 2 for 3 at the plate and scored a run. Also adding hits were Zach Ball, Matt Cox, Cameron Ball, and Ethen Roberts.

Gabe Lloyd started on the mound and nearly went the distance. Gabe took a no hitter into the 6th inning before surrendering a base hit with 1 out in the 6th. Gabe ended up going 6 2/3 innings, giving up 4 runs, none earned, striking out 4 and walking none. Cameron Ball came in to record the last out for the save.
