The Wabash baseball team scored 6 runs in the fifth inning against North Miami Wednesday to grab a 6-3 lead before giving up 5 runs in the seventh, falling to the Warriors 8-6.
In the top of the third Nathan Mussleman would draw a walk. With one out Braxton Gunter would lay down a bunt single before a Shane Holden double drove home both runners to give North Miami a 2-0 lead.
The Warriors wouldpick up a solo run in the fifth. Trevor Linn started the inning with a single and advcance to second on an error. With two outs Garrett Bahney would single home Linn to put North Miami up 3-0. The Apaches would respond inthe bottom of the inning with a 6 run eruption. Clayton Floor led off with a walk and was followed by a Reese Samons single. Floor would then score on a balk to make it 3-2 before a Justin Beauchamp single scored Samons to make it 3-2. Trenton Daughtry and Robert Irgang would then draw back to back walks before a Kory Fuller single scored Beauchamp and Daughtry to give Wabash a 4-3 lead. Irgang would then steal third before scoring on another balk to make it 5-3 before a Kallen Kelsheimer single put runners on the corners. Jared Holley would then ground out with Fuller scoring to make it 6-3.
The game went to the seventh still 6-3 when the Warriors went off. Linn would lead off with a walk and was followed with walks from Gunter, Holden and Bahney to force home Linn to make it 6-4. Zane Briggs would then single to left with Gunter scoring to make it 6-5 with the bases still loaded. A Matt Stewart single tied the score with Holden scoring. Kuhn would then score on a wild pitch to give North Miami a 7-6 lead, then get a sacrifice from Patrick Masters with Briggs scoring to give the Warriors an 8-6 lead. Wabash would not manufacture a hit in the bottom of the inning as North Miami held on for the 8-6 win.
