The Manchester softball team trailed for four innings Wednesday at Whitko before scoring 5 runs the last two innings in a 5-3 win over the Wildcats.
Whitko would score a run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead before the Squires got on the board in the fifth. With one out Erika Kendall would single and was ran for by Ranissa Shambarger. Mackenzie Day would then ground out with Shambarger advancing to second. With two outs Emma West would reach on an error before a Brooklyn Howard double drove home Shambarger and West to give Manchester a 2-1 lead.
The game went to the seventh with the Squires still clinging to a 2-1 lead when they got some breathing room. Ellie Milam would lead off the inning with a home run for a 3-1 lead. Kendall would then single before West hit a one out triple to score pinch runner Mattie McKee to make it 4-1 before a Howard sacrifice scored West for a 5-1 lead. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh Whitko would score 2 runs before a ground out gave the Squires a 5-3 win.
