You never know what you are going to get when the Southwood and Northfield baseball teams hook up. Monday was a classic pitchers dual between Matt Cox and Blake Harner with just 7 total hits in the game as the Knights shut out the Norse 1-0.
Each team would collect a single in the first inning with no runs crossing the plate. After a scoreless second Northfield would threaten in the third when Hunter Cox led off with a single and was followed by Mccauley Miller being hit by a pitch. Cole Rosen then drew a walk to load the bases before Cox recorded a strike out before forcing a fielders choice and another strike out to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the inning Clayton Wells would lead off being hit by a pitch before being caught stealing. With two outs Matt Cox would draw a walk and was followed by Carson Blair walking. Joel Hinds would then single up the middle with Cox scoring and Blair being thrown out at second as the Knights led 1-0.
Neither team would threaten the remainder of the game as the Knights held on for the 1-0 win.
