It’s never easy to win anything at Tippecanoe Valley, but the Wabash baseball team did just that Wednesday. The Apaches scored 2 runs in the first and 2 in the second on their way to a 6-2 win over the Vikings.
In the top of the first with one out Trenton Daughtry would draw a walk with Robert Irgang following with a double to put runners on second and third. With two outs Kallen Kelsheimer would walk to load the bases before a Jared Holley walk put the Apaches up 1-0. Clayton Floor would then draw a walk to force home the second run.
In the second Justin Beauchamp would lead off the inning with a single and was followed by a Kaleb Kelsheimer walk. Beauchamp would then steal third and score on a Viking error to make it 3-0, with Kelsheimer making his way to third on the play. Daughtry would then ground out with Kelsheimer scoring for a 4-0 lead.
Wabash would extend their lead in the fifth. Holley would lead off with a walk and was followed by a Floor single. After two fly outs Kallen Kelsheimer would draw a walk before a Daughtry walk made it 5-0..
Valley would score a run in the fourth and another in the fifth to make it 5-2 before the Apaches added an insurance run in the seventh. With one out Reese Samons would walk and advance to second on a wild pitch. Samons would then steal third before scoring on a balk for the 6-2 score.
