The Northfield baseball team lost a heart breaker Wednesday, falling to Maconaquah 6-5 in 10 innings.
The Norse would grab a 1-0 lead in the first when Cole Rosen led off with a walk. With one out Chance Hartman would double home Rosen for a 1-0 lead.
Maconaquah would take the lead in the top of the third. Hunter Hays would lead off with a single, steal second and score on a Cody Koebler double. With two outs Aaron Sedwick would double home Koebler for a 2-1 lead. Ethan Larason would the hit a blast over the left field monster as the Braves were up 4-1. The Norse would even the score in the bottom of the inning when Rosen led off being hit by a pitch, then advance to third on a Braden Ripplinger single. Hartman would then hit an infield single with Rosen scoring to make it 4-2. With one out Blake Harner would draw a walk to load the bases before a Jared Vigar single scored Ripplinger and Hartman to tie the score 4-4.
The Braves would take the lead back in the top of the fourth. Zac Snyder led off with a single and advance clear to third on an error. Snyder would be ran for by Zack Bullock who scored on a Adam Bowman grounder to make it 5-4.
The game would go to the bottom of the sixth when Northfield tied things up. Rosen would lead off with a walk and eventually score on a Hartman sacrifice to make it 5-5.
Just 3 more hist were collected by the two teams combined until the top of the 10th. Koebler would lead off being hit by a pitch and then steal second. Bryce Ward would then single to right with Koebler racing home for the go ahead run. Ethan Larason would shut the Norse down in order in the bottom of the inning as the Braves won 6-5.
